YATRA - the adventure...

Now today when I thought to write something here.. I thought I must write about a real story which happened with me… naa.. happened with we three…

It’s a story of real places, real things and real adventure..

It was the mid time of our 8th semester and at that time we friends planned to go to some places to visit somewhere in India. Most probably Simla, Massori, Zym Corbett etc.. But due to some personnel problems with me we were not able to visit these places but again there was a good news that one of my friend Pranay bought a new car “Hyundai Santro”. I and Ankit who is one of my best friends started visiting Pranay’s place daily to go for long drives. One day Ankit and I planned to go to Simla by his new car and it was the good luck of ours that Pranay said YES. Because he loves to say NO every time but this time we were surprised…..:D

We planned the trip on 20th march. Only we three were in the car and started our tour. On that day in morning at 8.00 we started our journey and till night we reached Jaipur where we stayed in a hotel Holiday inn” and because of tiredness we woke up late next morning.

Yaar Ankit the theater “Rajmandir” of Jaipur is very famous and this is the best theater in Asia. The only theater which is registered as a tourist place in the world”. I said to Ankit.

“Yeah I have also heard about that, so we must watch a movie here”. Ankit said.

Pranay was listening to us and now it’s his turn to speak something in negation.

“We are not here to watch movies, we have to visit many places till we reach Simla”. Pranay said.

“The main thing is that you don’t wanna enjoy our trip and you don’t know how to enjoy. Isn’t it Ashish bhai. Ankit replied in a teasing manner.

“Okay don’t fight on this small thing we’ll just see this theatre from outside and leave Jaipur. I said.

This day was one of the worst days of our life. At around 1 O’clock we crossed Rajasthan border and entered Haryana. Now here the way which we chose to go was closed because a bridge was damaged due to some terrorists activities. So we were forced to change the route. This new road was comparatively narrow and it also passed from the middle of a thick forest. We three were driving the car alternately. We didn’t took any driver with us thinking he might disturb or interrupt us in between. Now this was my turn to drive. I was driving and Pranay was talking about some software’s and about some companies with Ankit. We were really enjoying the greenery around us. But this happiness didn’t continue for long as we realized that one of the tyres of our car has been punctured.

Ashish verma tum bahut bade nassude ho humari zindagi ke (You are the most unlucky guy of my life).” Pranay said to me with a cool anger.

As this was the only dialogue which we use to tell everyone. Now we started to put in the reserve tyre which we have brought specially for such situations. I was removing the bolts of the tyre and Pranay was helping me in this but Ankit sat on the bonnet of a car and was on phone talking to………… At that time suddenly we heard a very loud roar.

What the hell was that?” I said.

Perhaps it’s a lion roaming in the jungle, we must work fast. Pranay said.

I thought.. huh from where the lion will come here, but suddenly Ankit ran towards us saying

lion.. lion.. Get into the car fast…”

I saw there was a big lion running towards us but before he reaches us we got into the car and to my surprise another lion from behind the car came towards us and both started roaming around the car. We were praying to god and shivering as if it was the last day of our life. The Lions were continuously pushing the car. They were looking very angry as if we have killed any family member of theirs. There was no one on the road and even the Forest police was not there. After about fifteen minutes….

Look some Dwellers are there.” Ankit said.

We saw four-five people in front of the car with Arrows and bow and with some other weapons.

“Hurrah now these people will help us.” Pranay uttered.

I nodded in his support but was still in dilemma that, will these people help us. Now when both the lion saw them they turned towards those Dwellers. We took sigh of relief.

“There would be a great fight between the lion & these dwellers; I have seen such fights on Discovery channel.” Ankit said.

“We also watch T.V., now see what happens.” Pranay said.

“Today these people are like god for us, they will definitely save our life” I said.

“But what happens if they catch us, after dealing with these lions.” Ankit whispered.

“No, they won’t. Sometimes I also watch discovery and I know that some dwellers don’t eat human beings” I said.

“Hey see, Lions are about to reach those people” Pranay said.

Now lions were about to do attack on those dwellers but at that time we heard a voice of a teenage boy from backside. We saw a boy of the age around 12-13 years was running towards lions. The boy was around 20 feet away from our car at the back side. When lions heard his voice they ran towards the car to reach out for him. I was shocked to see his confidence but had a fear that he might not remain alive to cherish his bravery. One of the dweller started shouting to that boy something but he didn’t listen and continued his run. Now as he reached the car I opened the back door of the car and pulled him in. Meanwhile all dwellers started attacking the beasts with there bows and arrows. To our surprise in about 5 minutes both the lions were killed.

First time we people saw killing of a lion in front of us which is illegal according to law but we were happy that these people broke that law. Now I got why some guys used to write on their bikes “Rules are made to be broken”. Who knows they might also have gone through such a situation in there lyfs….. :D

We got out from the car and all Dwellers reached us in no time and one of them said something and hugged the boy, he spoke a lot to us but his language was like… totally unknown language... Perhaps not desirable….

One of them knew our language. “I think you are not getting him”. He said.

“Wow, you know our language, thank god”. Pranay said and smiled.

“What is your name?” Ankit asked

“My name is Karan and I live here with all these dwellers as a communicator, I know more than 10 languages”. He said.

“Just tell…What exactly this person is saying to us??” I asked.

“You people saved life of his only son, so he is giving you thanks and inviting you to our place for dinner”. Karan said.

“But we are stuck with our car and we can’t leave it here alone”. Pranay said (as he used to deny all proposals).

“There would be no problem. One of us will be here to take care for your car. Now just come with us and checkout out life style”. Karan said.

“Okay fine, we must see how these people live here??” Ankit said with a firm voice.

With three Dwellers and one child we reached their place. In very thick forest, they found a place to live. At that place they were having two three decrepit buildings which were almost covered with small plants and trees.

At that place there were around 100 people living. Everyone greeted us as we saved the life of one of their child. All of them said to us lots of thing, but we didn’t got anything, then karan explained us they are thanking you for your work.

Karan showed us all the places.

“These buildings were made by our first king Ramsharan in 1890. After that due to some problems we were not able to construct any more buildings and now government of India is also interfering, they don’t allow us to cut these trees”. Karan said.

“It’s illegal to cut trees, why do you want to cut them” Pranay enquired.

“Without trees we can not live, we don’t wanna leave this place and for food cooking we need wood. That’s why we cut trees”. Karan explained.

“I have never seen such natural beauty in my life”. I said to karan.

“Everything which looks beautiful is not always beautiful. As this place looks too good but lions, tigers, snacks etc. also live here and unfortunately we don’t have any doctor”. Karan said.

“Oh its very difficult to live here”. Ankit said.

One of the Dweller came to us and said something to Karan.

“Okay, now its time to have dinner” Karan said to us.

“I don’t eat non-vegetarian food”. I clarified.

“But I do”. Ankit said.

“We have all kind of food for you because you are our guest today. So you can have whatever you wish”. Karan said with smile.

Perhaps it would be a “shahi-bhoj” for us then”. Pranay said.

Karan took us to a place where all other dwellers were waiting for us. They have a place which was fully cleaned and only three aasans were there for us. We sat down. One dweller came with three Banana leafs and placed in front of us. And they started serving. I had never seen such Variety of food. It was not just looking good, but was tasty too.

After the dinner they took us to a different place to rest. Pretty soon all three of us were in our own dreamlands and next day I woke up early and I saw every dweller was around us and looking at me.

“What happened Karan, why you all people are staring me like this?” I asked to Karan.

“We all want to share a big problem of ours with you which will make a very big change in your life”. Karan said.

“What do you want to say and what kind of change it would be?? Just make it clear.” I asked.

“Exactly the thing is that Ashish, we don’t have any King for this place who can lead us or who can show us the right direction to survive and grow.” Karan said.

“So what can I do??” I asked.

“Our king was killed by a lion last month, and now we all are without leader. Ashish you saved life of our child and you are good at heart we know, we want you to be our leader. Will you lead us?? Will you be our new king??” Karan said.

“What the hell you are talking about!! How can I be your king, even I don’t know the language of your people. How will I lead you??” I said in a deafening voice.

“Yes we know all this, but language is not a problem. Our people want a person who knows about other places and who has knowledge of new things, so that he can lead us, warn us against any forth coming danger.” Karan said.

“I am not getting you man. What you are talking about?? My lifestyle and your lifestyle are totally different, I can not live here for more than a day and I can’t imagine life without mobile, computer, T.V. and …… Why me yaar… I mean its so terrifying to even think of spending your entire life out here... amongst these woods… try and understand me.” I said.

“Who is saying you to live here, you’ll just have to visit this place once in a month or twice.”

And by saying lots of overwhelming things and by giving thousands of promises they convinced me to be the king. They all took me to their king’s place. I was astounded to see all this. It was like a big Sinhasan used by our ancient rulers made up of wood and gold.

“Just sit here Raja ji” karan said.

They made me sit on that huge singhasan of there’s and brought me a Crown of king. Everyone came to me one by one with garlands, gifts and what ever they could offer. A person who was looking like a priest was continuously chanting something and having a small pot of water and with a mango leaf dipped in it. He sprayed that water continuously on me. That water was too cold and because of the showers I was unable to even keep my eyes open. I was trying to say don’t... Plz don’t do this but he was just not listening… And suddenly I stood up, opened my eyes and saw my uncle dropping water on me to wake me up then I realized it was a dream. Huh….......

Thanks to Ankit Saxena and Pranay Airan for being a part of my dream.

I wish some day if we get a chance to realize this dream………….

Special Thanks to Ankit saxena for helping me in editing of this post.

A Poem completed by me on 13-04-09... and recited on 14-04-09 at our farewell party at LEVEL3 given by my dear juniors...

Main exam
Stairs

Fresher party
Midsem
